How to Move Green – The Greenest Cities in the US

If you have been considering all kinds of characteristics of a city to go to, have you considered how the city is on the green list? It is time to consider things as better air quality, renewable energy, green buildings certified public parks, education and recycling programs. If it looks like a better life for you, take a look at some of the characteristics found in the top five cities greener.

Portland, Oregon

Portland happens to be one of the greenest cites in America, and the community has devoted an emphasis on making the city a pleasant place to live. It is not surprising that the community is stronger than half of its energy comes from renewable sources. Many commuters to Portland bicycle to work, carpool or use public transport, and the city has dozens of buildings that are certified by the U.S. Green Building Council. Portland has also put a limit urban growth that protects 25 million acres of forests and farmland.

San Francisco, CA

If you've already considered moving to sunny California, you certainly would not be alone on this thought. And if you come from a place like New York City, San Francisco has everything to life the city to be a leader in protecting our environment. SF is also a leader in green building with many projects that are certified green.

Boston, Massachusetts

Although few people would expect to see Boston on top the list of green cities, they would probably be even more surprised to hear about its plans to open a power station that would make the grass and leaves gas methane.

Oakland, CA

It should not be surprised to see Oakland make this list because it is a close neighbour of San Francisco. Oakland, however, is at the cutting edge by offering its commuters zero emission hydrogen-powered bus.

Burlington, Vermont

The lake community in Burlington is proud not to be a green, but also a leader in green technologies. More than a third of its energy comes from renewable resources. You probably will not find any other city in the USA, which is devoted to sustainability, as most of its public schools have turned to organic farming and sustainability of food plays a role in curricula in most public schools
